Biodata

Mr AHMAD KAMRIZAMILMr Ahmad Kamrizamil took over the office of the Undersecretary of the OIC and Regional Cooperation Division (ORCD), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia, on 15 October 2019. Over the span of 24 years in serving the government, Mr. Ahmad Kamrizamil has had a remarkable and vibrant career that brought him good experiences in many exciting places. Mr Ahmad Kamrizamil started his government career in 1998 as an Economic Officer with the Economic Planning Unit, State Secretariat of the Government of Selangor. He joined the prestigious Malaysia’s Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 2000. A career diplomat, Mr Ahmad Kamrizamil, held various posts in the Ministry. At the start of his career, he assumed the position of Assistant Secretary East and South Asia Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also served as Principal Assistant Secretary, Human Resource Management, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director of Media Response, Department of Communication and Public Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Undersecretary, Administration and Security Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On overseas assignments, Mr Ahmad Kamrizamil was responsible for opening Malaysia's diplomatic mission in Manama, Bahrain, in 2003, followed by a four-year stint as First Secretary in the Embassy of Malaysia, Dakar, Republic of Senegal. In 2013, Mr Ahmad Kamrizamil was posted to the Embassy of Malaysia, Buenos Aires, the Republic of Argentina, as Minister Counsellor. As Undersecretary of OIC, Regional Cooperation and D-8. Mr. Ahmad Kamrizamil has been appointed by the Government of Malaysia and is currently holding the following position: D-8 Commissioner for Malaysia; Alternate Senior Official (Alt. SOM Leader) for ASEM; as Governor of Malaysia in the ASEF Board of Governor (ASEF BoG); Senior Official (SOM Leader) for Malaysia in Organisation for Islamic Conference (OIC) and its subsidiaries organs; Senior Official (SOM Leader) for Malaysia for in Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA); Senior Official (SOM Leader) for Malaysia in Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD); Senior Official (SOM Leader) for Malaysia in Forum of East Asia and Latin America Forum (FEALAC); Senior Official (SOM Leader) for Malaysia in Asia-Middle East Dialogue (AMED).

Mr. Ahmad Kamrizamil is currently a Member of the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) Board of Governors since 2021. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 2 June 1976, Mr Ahmad Kamrizamil obtained his Masters of Arts (M.A.) in International Relations (Indo-Pacific) from the University of Nottingham in 2019 and B.A. (Hons) in International Relations from Northern Arizona University, in 1998. In addition, he obtained his Diploma in Public Administration from the National Institute of Public Administration Malaysia (INTAN) in 2000 and a Diploma in Diplomacy from the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Malaysia, in 2001. He is also an alumnus of India's prestigious Foreign Service Institute (FSI) in 2002 and Public Affairs Institute (PAI), London, in 2012. 

His hobbies, among others, include reading, listening to jazz and big band music, and playing chess. He is an avid golfer and rugby enthusiast. He is also a cigar aficionado. Mr Ahmad Kamrizamil is married to Mdm Siti Hajar Hj Md. Nor and are blessed with four children (three sons and a daughter).

Surinderpal KaurSurinderpal Kaur is an Associate Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, University of Malaya, Malaysia. She attained her PhD from Lancaster University, UK. Her research areas focus on Critical Discourse Studies and Multi-Modality while her research interests revolve around issues of discrimination and prejudice specifically in the domains of migration, Islamophobia,  far-right extremism, terrorism as well as gender and sexuality.

Nurliana KamaruddinNurliana Kamaruddin is Deputy Executive Director of Academic & Student Affairs at the Asia-Europe Institute, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her PhD in International Studies specialising in Development Cooperation from Ewha Womans University. Her area of research includes international politics and development with a focus on ASEAN and East Asian relations.
