The global balance of geopolitical power is undergoing a significant shift from West to East and from North to South, reshaping international relations and introducing new tensions in the East Asian region. These changes have intensified major power rivalries, historical animosities among nations, complex relations between divided states, and ongoing territorial disputes.

This seminar will explore key flashpoints that continue to shape regional security dynamics, including developments on the Korean Peninsula, cross-strait relations between China and Taiwan, and disputes in the South China Sea. Through this discussion, the session will examine how these geopolitical tensions influence regional stability and the broader international order.

Drawing on extensive experience in strategic policy and international relations, Tan Sri Jawhar Hassan will also share insights on possible pathways toward peace and stability, highlighting approaches that may help moderate rivalry and reduce the risk of conflict in East Asia.
