The lecture is expected to cover the core elements of Russia’s policy towards the Asia Pacific including a comprehensive review of the key regional processes. The Russian top diplomat will unveil how Moscow sees the future of Asia amid the growing risks to sustainability of the existing ASEAN-led regional security architecture.
A particular emphasis will be made on the ASEAN-Russia strategic partnership which passed its 5th anniversary mark last year in good shape showing positive dynamics. The traditional areas of collaboration across the three pillars of the ASEAN Community have been recently complemented with new high-tech cooperation tracks including digital partnership.
Andrey Rudenko will highlight Russia’s efforts to bring together the major multilateral platforms in the region such as ASEAN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union by combining their connectivity potentials in building a common space for codevelopment, growth and prosperity based on practical cooperation across various domains in the Greater Eurasia.
Russia’s bilateral relations with the key players in the Asia Pacific will also be reflected in the course of the lecture.
H.E. Andrey Rudenko, born in 1962 in Moscow, is a distinguished diplomat with a long-standing career in international relations. H.E. Rudenko's academic journey culminated in 1985 when he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University). He has knowledge of both English and Chinese, a linguistic skill set that has undoubtedly supported his diplomatic work.
Embarking on his diplomatic career the same year, H.E. Rudenko has held various significant positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its missions abroad. His expertise and dedication led to his appointment as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Austria from 2011 to 2016.
In March 2016, H.E. Rudenko took on the role of Director of the Second Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Department of the Ministry and became a member of the Foreign Ministry Collegium. This position underscored his pivotal role in shaping Russia's foreign policy within the CIS framework.
Achieving a significant milestone in his career, H.E. Rudenko was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on September 19, 2019, following Executive Order No. 460 signed by the President. Additionally, in October 2020, he was honored with the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, affirming his significant contributions to Russian diplomacy. H.E. Rudenko's career reflects his commitment to fostering international relations and his integral role in Russia's diplomatic endeavors.
