Assoc Prof. Dr. Sameer Kumar was the Panel Chair and Presenter at the recently held ACAH/ACSS2023 conference in Tokyo, Japan and organized by The International Academic Forum (IAFOR), in association with the IAFOR Research Centre at the Osaka School of International Public Policy (OSIPP) in Osaka University, Japan.
Held between 26th May to 29th May 2023, the conference attracted over 240 delegates from 35 countries.
Dr. Kumar presented a research paper titled, "Against ‘The Elites’: The Rise of Right-Wing Populist Movements in Europe and Asia” where he examined right-wing Populist movements that are often fueled by anti-establishment, anti-immigration, eurosceptic, nationalist, nativist, and anti-globalization sentiments, challenging multilateralism and pluralism, while demagogues play a role in mobilizing public support against the elites.
He further delved into the growth and economic dynamics of populism, examining the causes behind its rise.
