Professor Emeritus Azirah Hashim awarded Honorary Membership by the Linguistic Society of the Philippines

Professor Emeritus Azirah Hashim, was awarded Honorary Membership by the Linguistic Society of the Philippines (LSP) at the LSP conference held at Mindanao State University on April 29, 2023. Professor Azirah was Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Institute from 2015 to 2020, and also currently a member of the ASEM Education Standing Working Group representating AEI.

The LSP is a professional organization for linguists in the Philippines. It was founded in 1969 with the mission of promoting the study of language and linguistics in the Philippines.

The Honorary Membership award is the honor bestowed by the LSP, given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of linguistics.

Professor Emeritus Azirah Hashim is a distinguished linguist who has made significant contributions to the field of applied linguistics. She is President of the International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA) from 2021 to 2024 and is Founding President of the Malaysian Association of Applied Linguistics.
