The AEI-ASEM Summer School is an ongoing initiative to enhance the balanced mobility of students, researchers and academics between Asia and Europe in line with one of the decisions of ASEMME 4 in May 2013, Kuala Lumpur.

This year’s AEI-ASEM Summer School will be a ten-day programme consisting of a series of lectures and relevant field trips to focus on various topics of interest to generate conversation and ideas amongst participants in understanding the challenges we face globally.

The theme of the AEI-ASEM Summer School 2024 is "Global Citizenship: Embracing Diversity, Fostering Sustainability".

Come join us for a variety of interesting topics to generate ideas and encourage dialogue among participants from different backgrounds. The summer school aims to enhance knowledge and understanding of current global issues while encouraging participants to think creatively and critically in finding the best solutions and exploring their role in achieving those solutions.

Activities: Lecture Modules, Group Activities, Field Trips and Reflective Reports

Target Participants

  • Youths that are interested in Asia and Europe.
  • Ages 18 to 30 years old.
  • Currently enrolled or planning to enroll in studies at public or private higher education institutions.
  • Open to undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students.
  • Participants should have the ability to understand and respect cultural differences.
  • Participants are expected to have a profound interest in global issues.

At the End of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Compare and distinguish issues that act as barriers to sustainable and social development;
  • Identify the benefits of technology and digital innovation as sustainable practices for the future;
  • Explore the diversity of global experiences in addressing contemporary social and developmental issues.

Nominal Learning Hours/Recommended ECTS

Modules: 10 hours
Field Trips and Practical Activities: 61 Hours
Assessment: 3 Hours
Student Preparation Time: 14 Hours
Total Hours: 90 Hours
Recommended ECTS Credits (1 Credit=30 Hours): 3

Participation Fee:

Only USD 900 per person. The fee includes all local costs associated with the programs, such as accommodation, meals, transportation, and lectures. Return airfare, visa fees, and travel insurance are not covered. Participation fee payment deadline is 20 June 2024.
