Italy and ASEAN: Political, Cultural and Economic Prospects of a New Relationship

About H.E. Cristiano Maggipinto

H.E. Cristiano Maggipinto started his diplomatic career in 1989 having served with the Directorate General for Economic Affairs dealing with market economy countries and European internal affairs, he was sent to Tel Aviv as the First Secretary at the Italian Embassy.

In 1997 he moved to Bonn and then to Berlin, where he was in charge of the large Italian community that resided in Germany.

Back in Rome, he served as Chief of Staff of the Directorate General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies. In 2006 he was appointed Consul General in Houston. From Houston he was transferred to the Italian Embassy in Washington as Head of the Coordination Department of all the Italian Consulates in the United States and of the relations with the Italian Community.

He returned to Rome in December 2013 and served at the General Directorate for Development Cooperation, dealing mainly with the Directorate’s participation at Expo Milan 2015.

Recently in 2017, H.E. Cristiano Maggipinto was appointed as the Italian Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur.
